Andrea Gattico
Film composer · Pianist · Turin, Italy

Andrea Gattico is a film composer and pianist based in Turin, Italy. Since 2003 he has written music for cinema, auteur documentary, animation and television, with an intimate, cinematic sound — acoustic and folk-orchestral, with Mediterranean roots — that grows from the piano and moves between melody and colour.

His most recent feature is Erto: The Moon Beneath the Water (dir. Alessandro Negrini, 2023), a dream-like, suspended film that has won 21 international awards at festivals in Italy and abroad. He also scored Promised Land (dir. Andrea Pierri, 2021), a painted animated short about migration across the Mediterranean, honoured at international festivals, and El lugar de las fresas (dir. Maite Vitoria Daneris, 2013), winner of the UCCA Award at the Torino Film Festival.

For more than a decade he has been the composer of the Stefilm documentary series Food Markets – In the Belly of the City, broadcast by ZDF/ARTE, NDR, RAI and RSI and now on Sky Documentaries in Italy, alongside many other documentaries and series for European broadcasters. For Rai Cultura he scored O.d.B. L’inesauribile Oreste del Buono (dir. Davide Valentini, EiE Film, 2023), a portrait of the writer, journalist and translator, now on RaiPlay. His latest score is for Stefano Tealdi’s Roman Cats – I gatti del cimitero acattolico (2026).

Andrea is now focusing on auteur cinema and narrative drama, bringing to visual storytelling the same attention to emotion and character he has built over twenty years in documentary.
